Asynchronous Coaching

You Need wayfinding Support in spurts — Not Standing Appointments

Asynchronous coaching (aka “Voxer coaching”) is my attempt to better meet people where they’re at, as not everyone wants biweekly wayfinding sessions.

With Voxer* coaching, you’ll message me whenever you’d like to tap into my expertise as a certified Wayfinder Master Coach. And I’ll respond. Simple!

*If you don’t dig Voxer — and not everyone does — we can explore other apps.

What Voxer Coaching Is, By Way of an Example

In a “regular” (non-deep dive) coaching session, we’d begin by identifying what our work is for the hour or so we have together.

But with Voxer coaching, you’d send me a short audio that let’s me know what’s going on and what supports you need in that moment.

For example, you might be struggling with your narcissistic ex whom you have to co-parent with. Shockingly (not!) they pulled a really shitty move regarding one of your kiddos that you need to respond to. You’re fuming, but you know better than to take their bait.

So, you send me an audio. You’re pissed. You’re like “Here’s what I want to fucking say to that ass hole! BUT I don’t want to give them that satisfaction of having gotten me all worked up. Help me process this shit and figure out a response that will leave me feeling empowered rather than hung over.”

I will respond. In this example, I would first offer you tools to help you get grounded, centered, and regulated. Then, I’d ask you some questions to help you arrive at a response that leaves you feeling empowered. Then, I’d ask you what you need from me.

You show up messy, raw, and real. And we work through it together.

Important Voxer Coaching Details & Parameters

In a traditional coaching session, I am your captive coach for an hour (usually). An uninterrupted hour gives us ample opportunity to explore whatever our work is for that session.

With Voxer coaching, we’ll message in spurts. While I’ll do my best to respond timely, I am not on-call 24-7. I work a 9-5, which can (though won’t necessarily) affect my response time. And I’m generally offline on weekends, and between late evenings and early mornings.

While you’ll be invited to message me whenever you want, you’ll receive responses during my normal “online hours” (8am-8pm CST M-F), within 24 hours (but usually much quicker).

Ideally, your messages will be a max of two minutes each, with one question only. And multiple messages are find! Following these suggestion (and limiting yourself to three until I’ve had a chance to respond), will make it easier for me to understand what’s going on without getting lost in an avalanche of messages.

Within 24 business hours of registering for Voxer coaching, you will receive an email from me with details about getting started. And if you’d like to have a free consult with me before registering, click here.

Asynchronous Wayfinding

Voxer Coaching Explores:

  • Your inner guide is wise, and one of the most foundational aspects of our work is to access her/them/him. I call my inner guide La Que Sabe, The One Who Knows in a nod to Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés masterpieace Women Who Run With The Wolves. Similarly, we’ll personify your inner guide by anointing her/them/him with whatever name most resonates.

Your inner guide communicates with you all of the time, whether you recognize it or not. Many clients come to wayfinding having never given much thought to this, and even sometimes in disbelief of the notion that they can count on “themselves” to guide them well. The thing is that your inner guide isn’t actually you — it’s deeper than that. It’s like a collective soul wisdom that gets filtered through the lens of your unique human incarnation. By personifying this wellspring of wisdom, I’ve found that it becomes more intuitive to revere and rely on it.

And so, part of my work — especially early on — is to help you to recognize how your inner guide communicates with you. For most clients, this happens via palpable physical sensations. For many clients, there is also an energetic shift or intrinsic knowing. And for those times when we want a yes/no answer, I have tool that can be used in the moment and in virtually any situation.

  • When we think in binaries, we limit our options. But when we approach things from a place of deep curiosity, we find a multitude of paths we can take when faced with many given situations. When we lead with curiosity, we ask ourselves questions like I wonder what would happen if I tried this? And then we find out, knowing that it’s not the end of the world should things not go the way we want.

Even when we do face binaries — say when we have to either do or not do something — and the choices induce stress, we can get curious about our response to both our stress and whatever lies ahead. Insights gleaned from getting curious in such circumstances can invite opportunities that are deeply soul-aligned.

  • When you tune into your inner guide and let curiosity guide you, you begin to move into deeper integrity with who you truly are — with your soul. And living in deep integrity with your soul is what is going to bring you the most richness, fulfillment, and purpose in life. The greatest capacity for joy. The feeling of being wildly alive. This is what liberation looks like.

And so, we look for more opportunities to move into deeper integrity with who we truly are. And at some point, we find that we are simply living this way naturally. This doesn’t mean that everything is glorious and that we never face stress! But it does mean that we have equipped ourselves well to navigate even the most challenging, liminal times without losing ourselves in the process. And let me tell you, it’s a helluva way to navigate hard stuff like divorces and existential crises and even — no, especially — the fuckery of our times…

  • I used to call them turtle steps (as my mentor does) to signify the ease in taking steps that are tinier than baby steps. But sometimes — especially for those of us who work best in sprints — turtle steps aren’t as motivating as, say, cheetah steps (because, hello speed!). Or for when we’re faced with risks, baby steps (because babies are willing to fall down). Or for times when courage is needed, honey badger steps (because honey badgers are ballsy enough to do things like attack cobras).

Speaking of, here’s a link to that viral YouTube video about honey badgers.

  • While mindset work is an important element of wayfinding (and probably every kind of coaching there is), it isn’t always appropriate. In fact, there are circumstances when certain popular thought work tools can cause harm. As such, I’ve come to use them from a place of deep discernment.

For starters, we cannot “think” our way out of social injustices, inequities, or trauma, etc. Nor should we attempt to bypass these travesties via a “high vibes only” mentality. Instead, we benefit from leaning into the discomfort (when appropriate) or onto a highly trained professional competent in navigating trauma.

But there are times when thought work tools are freaking amazing. Again, it’s all about exercising discernment.

Kristi sitting on the ground and smiling at the camera

Hi! I’m Kristi.

Trauma-Sensitive Support, Grounded in Experience

I began my wayfinding journey in the 90s, after nearly dying from a suicide attempt and undergoing a spiritual awakening.

The wayfinder’s path changed my life’s trajectory, though living as a wayfinder hasn’t been easy and has sometimes led me to wish I could just “be normal.” But the truth is that I wouldn’t trade this path of soul integrity for anything. The stakes are too high.

And that’s because when I’ve deviated from the path and did the things that culture expected me to do, I was miserable and restless. And part of what garnered me that stay in the psyche ward back in 1996 was my inability to force myself to live a life that wasn’t soul-aligned.

Fast-forward a few decades. I discovered that there’s a gal (Martha Beck) who trains people to both essentially live the way I’d been living for decades and to help others do the same. Wait…you mean I can make a career out of this?! Count me in!

And so, I trained under Martha Beck to become a Wayfinder Life Coach and then later a Wayfinder Master Coach. And here we are.

“In just a short session, she helped free me of carrying this weight in my lowe back, stomach, shoulders, and hips — enabling me to let go and trust that I have the fortitude and strength to move forward.”

Courtney Wennerstrom

“After our conversation, I felt lighter and clearer and capable of taking a turtle step…something new feels unlocked. I spent some time today journaling…I’m feeling more ready to take on the week than I have in a while.”

Madi R.

“I consider myself to be allergic to the very prospect of [promoting my book] until my coaching session with Kristi. In a world full of influencers and ‘content creators’, Kristi Amdahl is the real deal.”

You’ve got questions?

I’ve got answers

  • By design, asynchronous coaching is best for clients who:

    • Don’t require external motivation to “run with” the insights they’ve gleaned.

    • Don’t need to spend a lot of time deep diving into things.

    • Have schedules that make it really challenging to commit to regular sessions.

    • Are patient and respect my posted response windows.

  • Asynchronous coaching is not for you if:

    • You expect an immediate response to your messages.

    • You require a lot of hand-holding and lack initiative.

    • You wouldn’t be able to answer the question “What’s your body telling you right now?” If this is you, that’s okay! But we’ll want to have at least one live session together first.

    • You would be better served by talk therapy. I am not a therapist.

  • Wayfinding is a form of life coaching and, therefore, addresses whatever’s going on in your life that you’d like support with. Work issues, relationship challenges, over-bearing family, financial patterning, making decisions, navigating a capitalist world as an anti-capitalist, etc.

In general — and there are plenty of nuances and exceptions to this — life coaches are trained to help their clients generate insights on whatever challenges they’re facing and identify steps for moving forward.

  • While I don’t require it, I would prefer it!

And so, once you register for asynchronous coaching, you will receive a deep dive questionnaire — the same one I give to my 1:1 coaching clients. You will be asked to return it within a week of us beginning our work.

This is an optional step, but I believe that the very act of contemplating the questions will offer you incredible value. And it will help me coach you more meaningfully.

  • I currently do not offer either for 1:1 work, as it’s not sustainable for me to do so at this time.

If my pricing isn’t accessible to you but this work feels very aligned, let me know on your inquiry form. I am willing to explore restructuring packages so that they are more accessible to you.

  • If you are hesitant to commit to a three-month package up front, please either: (a) submit a wayfinding inquiry and book a free consult, (b) book a single 1:1 wayfinding session to explore how I coach (though it differs from Voxer coaching), or (c) book a week of asynchronous coaching as a test-drive.

  • Yes. We can use another app that allows us to exchange voice messages.

  • No, though if I feel that we really need to have one in order to work through something particularly challenging, I’ll encourage you to book a paid session.
